Pros

The company does a lot for the community. It has really worked on its public image and I'm no longer ashamed to tell people where I work. Some of the best pay in the industry (if you play the game right and never share your real opinion).

Cons

The management in Claims is terrible. There is a constant state of confusion. The messages from corporate Claims management tries to cheer up staff about the future and the great work that we're doing, but nobody believes it anymore. We are constantly told that the company is successful one day, and the next we are beaten down by supervisors that we're underworked, a bunch of whiners, and still not meeting goals. Management cut staffing at the busiest time of the year and they aren't bringing in temps. Everyone is working 60 hours a week. Things were looking up a couple of years ago, but morale in the entire claims division took a nose dive in just the last year, despite larger bonuses (for most people), and moving to a nice new building. Nobody has time to enjoy the new building because we're chained to our desks. The company constantly posts pictures on social medias of smiling employees - almost none of them are in Claims. There is a steady stream of people leaving. Many of the people leaving have decades of Claims experience, including grandfathered licenses. Everyone is trying to get out of Claims because they don't trust the management anymore. Only ONE departure in the last five years has been due to retirement. The rest left for other companies, promotions outside of Claims, or were suddenly fired. The Claims supervisors are constantly trying to spin that things are going well, but they know they're lying and will admit it during 1:1 conversations. People that are trying to just make ends meet living in the most expensive city in Texas feel trapped because the pay is better than you can get without moving to another city.

Pros

The mission and resources can be counted as pros as compared to other carriers, benefits are decent

Cons

Supervisor and Senior management additions and changes have been a nightmare. Abrupt changes to content and standards have been implemented with no guidance or direction. Already unmanageable workloads have doubled because directives are unclear, inefficient and not thought out, not from any realistic perspective from people completing the work. Staff is struggling to adapt to changes but supervisors and management insist “ we figure it out” burning valuable time guessing and results being rejected. Excessive meetings are help and promise to reduce workloads and provide clarification but things continue to deteriorate. Existing staff is required to attend extensive leadership training he but when positions open, outside candidates are hired WITH NO EXPERIENCE in lieu of current dedicated employees. Staff struggled to understand the roles of management as they don’t provide guidance or support and often have no recent work g knowledge of the current job, it’s demands and it’s process.
