Pros
Texas Mutual has been the leading workers' compensation carrier in the State of Texas for many years. The company management is concerned, from the top down, with making choices that will enable us to offer the best services to our customers and ensure strong financial results at the same time. The company's history of paying dividends to policyholders, a good agency compensation plan and competitive employee salaries, benefits and bonuses are all reflective of the company's outstanding results and desire to attract and retain good, long-term customers and employees. The work environment is positive and encouraging, even with a sometimes full workload. Automation and system updates on the horizon will position the company to be even more competitive and efficient in the future. The future looks great for Texas Mutual and I am thankful to be here! Company management seems concerned with a good work/home life balance. We have seen an increase in community outreach opportunities lately, as well as "social" events within the office to get to know coworkers in other departments better. These are welcome shifts in the culture of the company! I started at an entry level, and through the years my hard work, high integrity and service attitude have been recognized. The company does acknowledge and reward employees doing the right things.
Cons
Texas Mutual is doing a great job with hiring and development of new employees, and engaging them early in their development process. The company is interested in identifying high-potential employees, but a more structured development infrastructure would be beneficial for more "seasoned" employees, especially those with leadership potential and the ability to mentor newer employees or move into management roles. Honestly, though, I have not had many negative experiences while working at Texas Mutual.
