Pros

Streamlined management structure, supportive faculty, generally supportive parents, willingness to hire talented, well-educated professionals who may not have a teaching degree or license, good technology and other resources

Cons

Extreme lack of diversity among staff and especially students, many extraneous duties and responsibilities for teachers, sometimes over commodifies education and students, some conservative, right-leaning biases, biggest problem for new teachers: you may wind up teaching too many different classes at the same time with multiple preps and very little down time or prep time

Fairly competitive pay, year-round schedule gives you 4 three to four week breaks throughout the year. Students are generally well-behaved.

Cons

Poor communication from admin; seemingly random changes in school policy with no warning or explanation. Every year I saw teachers whose contracts were not renewed despite never having any disciplinary issues and consistently positive observations; admin will refuse to give any explanation or reasoning for the nonrenewal if asked. Frequent turnover of admin--there have been 5 different heads of school in the last 5 years.
