My sick/mental health days were abused by my supervisor; such as them communicating with me about work after hours after I made it very clear I was unwell and on leave. I reported my boss to HR 4 times in the 6 months I worked here. And HR exposed my complaints to her which she then addressed back to me. I felt unsafe and unprotected. I was told that “the COO wants you to create a month’s worth of work” after I provided my two weeks notice. Quite confident this was a lie made up by my supervisor, but no other senior leads blinked twice when I brought it up again; though they did raise eyebrows. And finally, despite the many close relationships I made in my time there, I was told NOT to send a goodbye email/Slack to any of the staff. So much for morale! I understand startup culture can be intense, but I would describe my time here as borderline abusive.
