Pros

Working for the MENTA education group has truly been a blessing. The team work, the ability to grow within the organization and the “you have my back I have yours” is truly something I cherish being an employee. We “do it for the kids” not just for us. Id highly suggest if you ever get an opportunity to work for a MENTA site you take the chance.

Cons

I honestly haven’t found any cons. If you run the program correctly things will fall into place.

Pros

-The main pro is the fulfillment you from working with this diverse and challenging group of children. - The amount of locations give you more variety in where you choose to work

Cons

-at my location the life skills children are taught in a open bay style class rooms. it is often very noisy and hard to get the students to concentrate. Often times one student being overwhelmed has a domino effect on the other students because of the constant noise -I don't feel respected as a professional and often time feel that I am suffering a punishment of others who worked here in the past. we are not allowed breaks or to leave the building for lunch. when I asked for clarity on the matter i was told that it is because staff in the past would leave for break and not return. I don't think its fair to punish everyone for the decisions of a few people. - Administration makes decisions without considering how it affects the staff that is left to execute said decisions. I don't feel respected as a professional and I often times don't feel heard by my admin team until something goes wrong. Our students haven't had a gym class all year due to a scheduling conflict. We communicated this in September, it is March and our students still don't have a gym class.
