Pros

* Incredibly friendly, collaborative environment * Lots of emphasis on employee well being * We're fighting climate change, head on! Where else can you do that? * The organization is committed to make itself more efficient and more effective * People respect and appreciate my experience from outside, not resentful or distrustful * In tech, I'm using all of the latest cloud based solutions and moving projects to current best practices, so I'm not falling behind in skills

Cons

* The collaborative, healthy-employee environment can feel slow at first. (I'm coming from a sales role where it's push push push every end of month!) This is actually not the case, but stylistically, it can feel that way. * The entirely distributed workforce (and a keen eye on travel/burning carbon) can make you feel a little disconnected. This is true everywhere, though. * Of course, I'm not making as much as I used to, but I'm doing much more meaningful work. * This organization does so much, it's actually hard to get your arms around all that is happening.

Pros

Some incredibly kind, smart, and passionate employees. Above average pay for a non-profit (could be better), fulfilling mission, great benefits (healthcare, PTO, 8% 401k match)

Cons

The higher up you go in the org, the worse it gets. Executive leadership is abysmal and they completely eroded trust in their ability to lead. Most of the C-suite needs to be replaced with people with higher EQ. Marketing in particular has an extremely toxic corporate culture that’s become immensely worse in the past 3-5 years. Layoffs were never a common occurrence, but in the last couple years, they happen with no rhyme or reason and those exact roles that were eliminated are seemingly reposted just mere weeks after folks are pushed out. Beware of what team you’re joining. It’s a mixed bag. Some amazing teams with incredible leadership, and some not.
