Many reputed faculty members departing without being replaced leading to loss of resources and scientific rigor. Postdocs have little workers protection and poorly defined benefits. For example, PIs and postdocs are to negotiate a "reasonable" vacation policy. PI's are advised to follow the NIH minimum salaries for postdocs, but it is ultimately up to the PIs discretion whether to follow this policy. Many do not.
