Cons

VERTEX claims that they are a work/life balance and a family organization. Here are a few facts to discredit that declaration. An employee was forced to quit after maternity leave when VERTEX would not consider adjusting her schedule to accommodate motherhood. Another employee on medical leave was ostracized without any compassion. In addition, an employee lost her husband unexpectedly and VERTEX turned their back when she verbalize her monetary concerns. Soon after she was terminated. I'm completely disheartened that a person in the upper management was persuaded to include a tragic death in their review with the intention of adding a positive spin to make VERTEX look charitable and family oriented. SHAMEFUL!

The Vertex Companies talks a lot about performance-based pay, but the follow-through isn’t there. I exceeded expectations, had strong client relationships, and solid support from leadership—yet the merit increase felt like a slap in the face. When you’re told compensation is tied to performance but see little difference between average and high performers, it raises real concerns about how employees are valued. The company appears far more focused on protecting margins and pleasing shareholders than rewarding the people driving the work. It’s disappointing, because strong performance should be recognized in a meaningful way—not minimized.
