Pros
Free food (most of the people who started the same day I did are FAT now), all the alcohol you can get your hands on AT work and AFTER work (binge & excessive drinking encouraged and provided, but don't look for AA to be offered), LOTS of parties, team building activities, great customers, fabulous discount (although their products are WAY overpriced & they really don't in demand designer items), Zappos swag (sure we will pay you $11 to start & give you stuff to advertise our company for free), FREE insurance (HMO)
Cons
I've known SO many people who got fired for not being "peppy" enough. They put you through an emotionally challenging 7 week training that involves a lot of "military" style brainwashing. They want you to act, look, think, and be what they want. You are too be happy to the point where you are fake everyday all day. You are told to notify management if someone is negative even once. Hey everyone has a bad day. Your sole job is too talk to people. Sounds easy right? No! The longest phone call was 8+ hours when I worked there. You have to stay on the phone & talk, as long as they want, about whatever they want. I once had a foot fetish creepy guy call in, yep, had to talk to him. Your performance reviews are determined whether or not you fit into their CULTure. If you do not volunteer WITH your crew, hang out after work WITH your crew...you are written up and ultimately fired. Aside from all of this, the call center is like a child care center with a bunch of ADHD kids and children filled to the brim with sugar. Honestly, you are packed in like sardines and you have NO privacy, NO personal space, and forced to be friends with everyone there. It really is exhausting. BEWARE of applying. They try and sell you on the fact that you can move up in the company...WRONG! If you get the CLT job, you will most likely NEVER get out of CLT. There are always exceptions, but be prepared to do everything I've just mentioned, and kiss some serious booty! This has been one of the least diverse places I've ever worked at. Yes, there are handfuls of people from all over the world. They literally have tons of UK folks there. But, what I mean is their personalities. They are all cloned. They look for 20 something hipsters. They make it sound so good, but trust me...anything that is this good, has a catch. It is true, "if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is." I took "the offer" after working there for a short 7 weeks. I am so glad that I did because SO many people that were in my class have been fired for "not fitting in" after a year + time with the company...that is just HORRIBLE!
