Pros
Zappos definitely has great benefits, best I've ever had! I made great friendships that will definitely last a lifetime. They do have fun events on a weekly basis and still have the time to get work done. Employees like to have fun and don't take themselves too seriously which is rare to come by. Great new campus that the employees who have been there are while don't appreciate as much as they should. They are always involved with community focused events.
Cons
Zappos is doing a lot right now which is almost "too much" that it feels like they are losing focus. They tend to bite off a bigger piece of the cookie than they can chew. Their approach to rolling out "holocracy" is interesting. It was almost as if the right leg doesn't know what the left leg is doing and the employees are almost feeling paralyzed. It's very hard to feel successful at Zappos because you can never really complete one thing... it's always onto the next. That's where they will tell you to "embrace drive and change." In this environment where core values are key... it's hard for anyone to speak up and give an opinion. If you don't ride the boat the only choice is to get off it. Leadership and Tony himself are missing in action since he is focused on other projects within the city. It's almost like he assumes the company can run itself. Progression is impossible unless you know the right people. Lastly, don't come to Zappos for "salary"... bonuses are non-existent. I only received a 2% increase in the entire time I was there. There is no way someone can get ahead in life at the same salary forever. Like I said.... culture can't be everything.
