Pros

- Pay was good. Honestly too good. It became an issue when warning signs of a failing company started to fester and I couldn't bring myself to leave for jobs that paid half as much. - The people who work below management are really some of the best people you will meet. The team I worked with were hired with a big focus on culture fit and it meant we all got along.

Cons

- Calling Zappos a Family is something you will hear a lot but a family does not throw people out anytime a shareholder thinks it's profitable to ruin someone's life. It's disingenuous. - I initially gave Zappos a shot due to the wonderful stories I had heard about the culture under former CEO Tony Hsieh. Everyday that culture dwindled and 3.5 years later you wouldn't believe it ever existed in the first place without hearing it from the most senior employees who were rapidly being laid off. - Company is clearly being gutted and will either be incorporated into Amazon or sold off to someone else. Either way there's just layoffs upon layoffs coming in the near future. I expect KY operations to be gone within the next year or two. - You can't trust this to be a reliable job. As I mentioned above, get that money while you can but don't expect it to last. - The Core Values the company touts so much fall on deaf ears to management and they will not uphold any of them these days. They will have endless meetings about open and honest communication being a focus going forward only to not mention it or abide by it again, until the next meeting where they will say something like 'we failed, we let you down, we promise to change' on and on forever without letting their actions speak. - They put Profit before People, and Tony Hsieh must be rolling in his grave at what they have done to his formerly great company. - They elevated Tony to an idol but operate in direct conflict with how he ran Zappos. - There's some high school level drama in the workplace that can get tiresome, but it's to be expected because people are angry and bored about the workplace and don't have much else to talk about. - Time off policies are terrible. You have to accrue time extremely slowly and if you get sick and don't have time to cover it you will get attendance points which can quickly add up and get your fired. - Endless talks of improvements coming in the future but nothing ever happens with it.

Pros

Good benefits Great colleagues WFH options

Cons

After the CEO stepped down the company lost its vision and the culture has been ruined. Additionally, the hiring of a few upper management individuals drove out a large number of hard working and dedicated employees
