Thrive Pet Healthcare

Engaged Employer

Lots of promises to get you there but not very supportive when they do. - Veterinarian Thrive Pet Healthcare Employee Review

Pros

Make good salary, insurance, but not very good insurance ( is that the best you can do for your employees? Employees would probably pay more for better plans.

Cons

They push hard on seeing as many rooms as possible. The doctor tech ratio is 1:2 on the best day. That doesn’t always happen. Working a Saturday and Sunday with one receptionist and one tech makes for very long hard days especially being double booked 15 minute appointments and nobody is happy and supported! I brought it up to no avail. The techs are constantly on their phones but the company doesn’t have a policy to deal with that, really! Was told the doctors and techs were on about the same level as employees. The pharmacy is very limited and you can’t order a drug unless it’s on the limited list to pick from. I was told I would be able to order the drugs I need. Nope. No pressers or naloxone because it wouldn’t be used very often. Well maybe not, but there are no substitutes when you do need them. The software they use, Vetspire, is the most cumbersome I’ve ever used and crashes all the time. You have to click 15 times just to get through the PE part and no they won’t add a button to mark all normal. I guess it’s supposed to make you think about it, really. I think about it in the exam room and know to write it down. Who’s got time to waste like this. It certainly doesn’t make the job easier or faster, just more annoying. No dental Xray but want you to do lots of dentals. I just have to say they aren’t very responsive to the needs of the veterinarian. Too much micromanaging and big brother. You can definitely tell it’s owned by investors from Wall Street.

Thrive Pet Healthcare Response

We strive for great support of our doctors with 2 techs plus a pet concierge (who’s 100% focused on in-clinic patients and not distracted with incoming calls). We are sorry to hear that our 1:2 doctor to tech ratio didn’t always work as scheduled. Our Practice Management software did crashed awhile ago and it’s deployment did see it’s challenges, however we continue to get amazing and confident feedback from our doctors about our cutting edge technology and it’s integration with all of our systems and equipment. If you will allow me… I would really like your comprehensive feedback so we can work on improving our operations. Reach me at People@Thrivevet.com.

Pros

I've had the opportunity to work with talented, passionate people who genuinely care about improving veterinary medicine. The work is fast-paced and challenging, but there are plenty of opportunities to make an impact and collaborate across teams. Supportive colleagues and leadership along with a mission that makes the work feel meaningful.

Cons

Like any growing organization, there are changes and evolving priorities but overall it's been a rewarding experience!
