Pros
- Opportunity to learn a lot of different skills.
- People tend to be generally helpful.
- Professional development opportunities related to job classification.
- Networking opportunities.
- Benefits (medical, dental, 401k, deferred compensation, etc.) are great.
- Telework opportunities depending on the division.
Cons
- An echo chamber because of the lack of diversity.
- There isn't any training. You're expected to learn on the job with no real time for training.
- No opportunities to move up. It's based on who you know, and they put a lot of stock in the stereotypical "show up dressed for the job you want," despite there being several niche professionals who work in the field the majority of the time.
- Management and exempt earn bonuses; non-exempt (hourly) employees do not.
- Toxic work culture from upper management.
- Because the professional development is based on your job classification, it's challenging if you are trying to learn new skills to move up or transfer.
- There isn't consistency between divisions. Depending on your manager, you either get a lot of freedom or none.
