      Pros

      The pay is attractive. Super easy to get in with the IT department as long as you don’t mind never working from home. The benefits are OK. You will have access to WA PERS 2 and 3.

      Cons

      Sex/race based discrimination. Strongly conservative office culture. Pay never matches job responsibilities. Union unable or unwilling to help because they’re stretched thin. Arduously long pay/benefits contract negotiations. IT Department drama is off the charts. Teams are completely siloed off in practice, and some teams make changes that cause major problems without telling anyone. IT Department credibility is low among users. Lastly, no work from home for IT. Other departments have varying levels of WFH.

      Pros

      It used to be better. However the counties fallen behind the state and other counties in pay. For those of us that worked onsite during the pandemic while other employers gave out bonuses we got a $3 keychain and little thanks. Despite its continued loss of employees & struggle to attract new ones leadership appears content to maintain the status quo.

      Cons

      More work for less pay. No bonuses/incentive for onsite workers during the pandemic.

      Pros

      Line staff and supervisors get along well, and there is comradery and desire to help lift everyone to be and do their best. There is flexibility in hours and location of work allowing staff to be more productive.

      Cons

      The current culture the elected leaders have created is driving high-producing, well-trained, highly motivated staff away. You can't tell staff to do more, not provide an appropriate budget, allow advisory boards to believe or conduct themselves as if they know best, ignoring the staff's technical knowledge, and expect to keep people.
