Pros

Best county in the state of Washington. Furthermore the Sheriff of Thurston Co. D. Sanders is a phenomenal Sheriff and leader who is not afraid to stand up to politicians and genuinely cares for his deputies as well as the citizens he of Thurston co.

Cons

Not one complaint. I would not want to live anywhere else.

Pros

- Opportunity to learn a lot of different skills. - People tend to be generally helpful. - Professional development opportunities related to job classification. - Networking opportunities. - Benefits (medical, dental, 401k, deferred compensation, etc.) are great. - Telework opportunities depending on the division.

Cons

- An echo chamber because of the lack of diversity. - There isn't any training. You're expected to learn on the job with no real time for training. - No opportunities to move up. It's based on who you know, and they put a lot of stock in the stereotypical "show up dressed for the job you want," despite there being several niche professionals who work in the field the majority of the time. - Management and exempt earn bonuses; non-exempt (hourly) employees do not. - Toxic work culture from upper management. - Because the professional development is based on your job classification, it's challenging if you are trying to learn new skills to move up or transfer. - There isn't consistency between divisions. Depending on your manager, you either get a lot of freedom or none.
