Pros

Location I work at is cool.

Cons

The duties of being basically a ''Wal-mart'' greeter, No advancement or increases in pay. There are guys that work at the site I'm at and haven't received a pay raise in 6 years. 6 years, wow! This company seems to bid low on contracts therefore us guards make very little. If you have a family I would advice you to apply else where before here. I have found jobs at the airport and working for various cities in Hampton Rds that pay much better then what Top Guard can offer. I have applied for them. There is no future in this company and majority of the guards are looking for other means of employment. If you begin to work here I guarantee within a year, so will you. You will have no choice considering how pathetic the pay is. Example a site I know is making this company at least 6 figures a year. The guards working there are making under $10 bucks a hour...Now that's one site out of dozens. This company is in the millions but is paying the "Top Guards" nothing...

Pros

I enjoyed my time at top guard a pro was there was an opportunity for growth and moving up in the company.

Cons

Something that would have been helpful is fixing the communication when it comes to the account managers being responsive.

Pros

Will hire anyone Provided uniforms Provided training Can provide rides during winter storms On job training

Cons

High staff turnover Will lie and impose double standards on you Favoritism Management will ignore you if you complain Will demote, cut pay, cut hours, without warning or reason There is no teamwork or reasonable communication No benefits no retirement Only one week of paid vacation no matter how long you've been with them and it's at half your weekly pay if at all sometimes they put it down as unpaid despite sending a request form. They will write you up for leaving if you have a death in the family. If your relief doesn't arrive they make it your problem to fix. Clock in/out breaks often. Dispatch unreliable, poorly trained but they out rank you and will change your clock in/out times without telling you Ignores issues at sites that clients create that pose risks. Blames and punishes employees for losing sites but won't manage, communicate, or train better. Write up system is guilty until proven innocent unless they already made up their minds regardless of evidence. Management will not answer calls or texts even during emergencies at a site
