Pros

- Talented, global, and inspiring team — some of the best professionals I’ve worked with. - Fully remote culture with great tools for async collaboration. - Clear processes and high standards that help you grow as a professional. - Opportunities to work with leading global companies and challenging projects.

Cons

- When facing personal challenges, initial flexibility and support were appreciated, but expectations quickly returned to a very high bar without much transition time. - The Performance Improvement Plan felt rigid, with limited margin for recovery if targets were missed even briefly. - Promises of post-employment support and re-entry into the Toptal Talent Network were not followed through as clearly or effectively as discussed. - Post-exit, the process to rejoin as a contractor was disorganized, with repeated profile changes and little proactive guidance.

Pros

Professional and interested in quality work.

Cons

Not really a con, but more work waiting than hours allow.

Pros

Met some good dedicated employees and freelance workers.

Cons

Lack of any real industry solutions or capabilities since 100% of delivery services are freelance contractors. Model has been successful as providing staff augmentation to clients, but all intellectual capital and outcomes are owned by the clients or the freelancer. Toptal is simply a staffing platform broker who marks up the freelance talent. Great if you need a plumber, but not if you're planning to build a bathroom.
