Pros
If you want to be in a 100% Japanese environment and are looking for a great learning experience, Toshiba is a great place. Most foreign employees are contractors, and the few that are full employees are from India, China, Indonesia, Thailand, etc., so Western Europeans and Americans stand out. There is quite a lot of pride in working for a large conglomerate, and outsiders are impressed when they hear that you worked for Toshiba.
Cons
Management is unsupportive at best and downright asinine at worst. Japanese corporate practices are the norm here: endless meetings without clear agendas and decisions made; political maneuvering; an inflexible mindset towards new technologies and practices; and general inefficiency. President Nishida is doing more to improve Toshiba as a company but there is still much left to do.
