The people I work with are awesome for the most part. The company is horrible.
Cons
Completely unrealistic goals as to what can be accomplished in a day with the hours and resources given. As a manager or ASM, only way to get daily and weekly goals accomplished is to work every day for more than 12 hours which wears you down both mentally and physically over time. Corporate management has no pity whatsoever for their legalized slavery to store managers. Pay offered to hourly associates leads to bottom of the barrel (in many instances) hourly associates who do not stay long. Constant turnover due to poor working conditions. You will have no life, especially during holidays when you will be forced to work even MORE hours than normal. Kiss your Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas goodbye because you won't be having them with your family. Constant threats of being replaced for supposedly underperforming- however, no one is actually ever let go because everyone at other stores is in the same boat; barely being able to survive and putting on "horse and pony shows" for the DM's and regionals and hoping for the best. Favoritism and politics rampant in upper management. Ads and specials are horribly thought out by corporate with never enough sale merchandise, which angers customers (and the customers are right). However, you will be held responsible as a manager when customers give bad scores on feedback surveys due to circumstances you have absolutely no control over (in stocks).
