Pros
-Get to meet and network with clients and understand their business. -Pay is okay. -People are nice for the most part. -Work/Life balance.
Cons
-Where do I start? Okay first you have to understand that the staffing industry as a whole is a dying industry. Anyone can start a staffing company. Tradesmen doesn’t really do a good job separating itself as a “Skilled Labor” staffing firm in the market. There is tons of competition in the space. -Getting harder and harder to find quality skilled hands in today’s labor market. Recruiters (PCs) can’t fill orders, so AEs have to do recruiting as well. -Clients aren’t interested in paying $35-$40/hr. for C level labor at best. We can do all the fully loaded pay rates in the world. Clients are looking at the bottom line. Most clients think the bill rates are too high for the quality of labor, and they’re right. It’s a hard sell. -Lack of training is a problem. They expect you to drive in the field , waste gas and time, but they don’t train you properly on how to overcome objections and the like. -Good ole boy company. If you aren’t in the circle, you’re an outcast. -5% commissions on GP, if the client pays on time. If the client doesn’t pay on time you don’t get paid commission. It’s harder and harder to make any money beyond base pay.
