14 - 16 hour days, hard work with virtually no breaks. - Cannery Worker Trident Seafoods Employee Review

Pros

If you can hang in there, you will make money. Even though it's minimum wage, the over time adds up.

Cons

Inhumane treatment. 16 hour days at a conveyor belt, with a 5 minute break after 4 hours, a 45 minute break after 8 hours and another 5 minute break after 4 hours in the midst of your next 8 hour shift, is disrespectful to any human being to say the least. You're used and treated as if you were a machine. It's an American sweatshop with no respect for human dignity. There's virtually no explanation on what to do and where to go, you're on your own and have to figure things out from your co-workers. I am English speaking and the majority of workers here don't speak English. I wasn't even told who and where my supervisor is (so I'd have someone to ask for direction) and to this moment have no idea.

Thank you for your review. We will carefully consider the advice you have given. If you could email me at HR@TridentSeafoods.com to tell me in which cannery you worked, I will better know how to address your concerns. I do want to remind you that Trident Seafoods explains on every recruiting trip to all potential employees the schedule and pay rate of the jobs for which they are interviewing, so that when they arrive at their work site they are not surprised. Trident pays no less than State or Federally mandated minimum wage for any job throughout the company, and we follow all guidelines with regard to working hours, meal and rest breaks, etc.

Pros

Meals and housing were provided.

Cons

A lot of favoritism and racism going on. Management is unprofessional and lies a lot.
