Pros

You get to work with a lot of passionate and driven people. You’re helping save pets! Trupanion insurance really is an incredible product. Certain things could be better (there’s always room to improve with anything) but it’s a great product, designed to improve the lives of pets. Margi is great! Like with the product there are things with her leadership that could be better but she is great at motivating and uniting the team, she also cares deeply about the company’s mission and goals.

Cons

There’s a lot of favoritism that negatively impacts the business and bottom line. There is one person in particular, the Chief Product Officer who essentially runs around the company like a toddler throwing tantrums. He did a great thing with creating the original Trupanion product, there’s no doubt on that. But because he was right with that he’s now incapable of acknowledging that any idea he has could be bad. Trupanion pays good people to market the product, but this individual gets to come in and demand any changes he wants. Trupanion has gotten away from letting data drive the marketing strategy. Instead of letting consumers tell you how they want to be marketed through rigorous A/B testing, results are ignored to cater to the marketing strategy of a person who has the social skills of a rock. Seriously, why is someone who struggles to connect to human beings driving the marketing of this product?

Pros

Very good benefits, especially PTO / Great coworkers with shared "values" (outside of upper mgmt) / Remote Help pets every day

Cons

The co has become another typical corporate greed - no longer cares about customer or staff experience, only the bottom line. Charges premium prices for not so premium insurance, with progressive cut backs in coverage yet continuous policy increases in much too large of percentage (as an employee, I could never afford my own plan). They used to be fantastic, progressive and all-inclusive. Now they keep hide their true behaviors behind a cloak of "transparency" and have lost sight of their own values.
