Pros
Trustly is a global team, I worked in the Americas team from the United States. Pay and benefits are competitive. Trustly recognizes talent and is willing to pay to hire and retain if you're willing to negotiate. As a result, you'll have generally competent, collaborative, friendly coworkers with genuinely exceptional contributors scattered throughout. The company clearly has personnel capable of doing good work, and I very much enjoyed working with them. There is a hierarchy in the organization, which isn't always a good thing (see cons), but at least half of the middle managers are seasoned professionals who are adept at handling the bureaucracy and insulating their teams so that they can focus on their work. Working conditions are average-to-good. We were often busy, but I rarely struggled with work/life balance. Most of the Americas team is fully remote, and Trustly provides good equipment, stipends, etc. for work from home, though Trustly does not manage the culture of a remote team well.
Cons
Trustly has the people and the technical/product foundation that should make for a wildly successful company in the right hands. Up until a few years ago, it was quite successful indeed. However, things have taken a turn since. Turnover at the executive and senior VP level is regular, while the overall quality of the leadership team has settled into a steady mediocrity. Decisions from the top change often, and their messaging regularly diverges from the actual direction of the company. Far too much energy is wasted on politics, spin, performative administrivia, and other nonsense. Quality execution is virtually impossible in this chaos. Morale is the lowest I've seen in my career, and it is only worsened by an increasing number of tenured employees leaving for better opportunities. I enjoyed my time at Trustly for the most part in spite of all this. Lots of great people, we still managed to do some good work. If you can train yourself to ignore all of this, Trustly is a perfectly fine job with compensation and work/life balance that will do you and your family quite well, but please proceed with caution.
