The legacy of lowered expectations - Sales Turnitin Employee Review

Pros

Healthy snacks. Some smart, dedicated people scattered throughout the company. The only real claim they can make is a promise of: 'Work / Life Balance' because they don't have much to offer career wise and there are no real options to advance within the company. This is an easy claim since there is not much of a challenge to the work and rarely do you actually have a full days amount of work. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the internal mismanagement and culture police.

Cons

Low pay, lack of growth, politics and terrible management. Most of the ambitious, smart and qualified folks have been run off by overwhelming pettiness, politics and outright drama inside the sales department. There is a odd combination of 'floaters' (people who don't carry any internal drive) and C-student bullies (people who get ahead by putting others down) leading to a environment of mediocrity where merit does not count for anything. The culture is one of confirmation bias. If you are like 'us', then you will be OK. If you are not like the 'us'; you can expect the mean-girl squad to blatantly say cruel things about you and spread rumors about you without any help from HR. This is a classic 'tool-box' sales environment. Management are hammers. To a hammer; everything is a nail. We all know what happens to nails (they get hammered into submission or until they break). This place is moving backward against the flow of history. Back to a time of old sales cultures. Where everyone looked the same, acted the same and if you speak out of turn; you are labeled a 'loose cannon'. They provoke people to talk about each other behind their backs and to have 'private' meetings with management..only increasing the confirmation bias. Monoculture is the culture.
