Pros

Amazing clinicians from diverse backgrounds, opportunities for learning with monthly professional development training where you can earn 1 CE unit, professional learning stipend ($500 annual), great place for newer clinicians learn and hone skills, specialized consult groups to receive peer clinical support

Cons

There has been a huge shift to a managed care model (they are a contractor for Kaiser NorCal) and delivery of care that emphasizes moving a higher volume of payor clients through care as quickly as possible - emphasis on reducing symptoms over resolving symptoms. This results in clinicians having to move clients out of clinical care when they achieve symptom reduction even if they could benefit from proactive clinical care that addresses underlying issues that activate symptoms. For most full time clinicians, this means having to constantly move 25+ clients in and out of your panel on an ongoing basis. It's exhausting and not sustainable (nor are there enough private pay clients to offset the payor clients we are asked to move through care). They are more focused on expansion and growth and this comes at the expense of the clinicians - there's no strategy in the growth and the learning pains are constant. The clinical tools are glitchy, they expect us to meet very specific metrics but don't provide us a way to track all of them. It takes a lot to sustain your minimum billable hours of 25 because you are expected to move clients through care to graduation but then there aren't enough new clients to fill the spots that are open in a proactive time. Rather than fix these issues they put the responsibility back on the clinician to 'open all your availability' to improve chances of getting matches. Mixed messages of caring about a clinician and their sustainability to then tell the clinician to throw their sustainability out the window if you want new clients. They also claim to be equitable with employees, but exclude clinicians from qualifying for promotion or bonus if they elect to work a 32 hour week. They also miss the bar on DEI and the majority of clinical leadership is white and despite ongoing calls for diversity and hiring more leaders of color, it has not happened. The shock of it all is that they then wonder why it's a revolving door of clinicians leaving.

Pros

Responsive, supportive managers/direct report; intentional training; Flexible scheduling

Cons

Pay structure change plus very slow client referrals the past 6+ months have resulted in significant negative financial impact. Emphasis on positives is disproportionate and doesn't accurately reflect reality. (See advice for management). Currently gearing up for new workflows, and there added responsibility: It appears that clinicians will be doing some work that 2 teams (one clinical, one administrative) have previously managed.
