Pros
- Ability to set your own hours, within reasonable parameters. - Flexibility and understanding with meeting minimum client hours. - Choose your caseload size. Full time minimum is 25, but you have the option to choose others, with increases in compensation. - No worries about insurance, billing, administration. - Strong technical and leadership teams that truly value the clinical work we do. - Compensation is better than average, with strong emphasis on growth and leadership opportunities, both lateral and upward. - Strong teamwork dynamic ... you're not in this alone! There's one required "home team," and several other consultation teams you may choose to participate in. - Software is user-friendly and makes reporting, clinical notes, and other tasks very smooth and integrated into clinical work. - Company initiatives are well-communicated with plenty of advance notice. Change management protocols are well-paced, unlike any I've experienced before. Company growth is slow and steady, not rushed. - Leadership and managers are constantly seeking input from clinicians about everything from software changes to policy, and team structure. Truly a "bottom-up" mentality. - Unlike other mental health/tech companies, this one is well-funded and not always worried about going bankrupt. - In addition to a very attractive time-off and benefits package, every employee gets the last week of the year OFF, as the company closes during this time.
Cons
- Some policies require strict adherence to protocol that sometimes feels like a burden to the client. (Weekly survey for each client containing over 30 questions is somewhat mandatory.) - No couple's therapy offered. - Expected length of treatment for any given Client is no more than 6 months. To request additional time, a comprehensive report is required and discussion with manager. - No weekend work. No appointments outside of 8 AM to 6 PM allowed. Even if the client requests it. - Many automated processes drive the way clients are handled, so there are times when the client may feel like a cog in a machine. This is not often, but often enough that you will need to do some repair work occasionally to excuse the oversight due to "technical process." - While the leadership teams are working to expand into contracts with additional insurance companies, the number of current contracts is very small, 99% of my caseload comes from Kaiser Permanente only.
