Pros

It is a good company

Cons

India top management not caring about employees concerns, and it make people think if they really want to resolve them. They have very much less pressure of work and performance compared to the industry, so they should more focus on employee welfare and development and creating a more positive work environment. Giving chances to junior-level scientists would be better , not that everywhere they are present, who already have so much visibility. As far as mgt interests and benefits are covered everything is good. People chose better to be silent than speaking. 8 years and before it was much more positivity and employee well-being and selflessness. India top management playing deaf ears and blind from eyes, but will that attitude solve the issues? Or do they really want to solve?.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your long tenure with USP. We appreciate your perspective and the time you took to outline both what you observe as working and where you see gaps. We hear your concerns about leadership responsiveness, opportunities for junior scientists, and the overall work environment. Creating a place where people feel comfortable speaking up, see clear paths for growth, and trust that concerns are taken seriously is important, and we are always looking for opportunities to be better. We continue to encourage open dialogue between employees and leadership through a range of forums, including conversations with managers, HR business partners, and sessions like Open Office Hours with India Leadership and global leaders, and staff connect sessions designed to encourage transparent dialogue. These channels are intended to make it easier to raise concerns, ask questions, and share ideas. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to share your perspective through any of our speak-up forums, which are in place to support open and safe communication. In Hyderabad, we’re focused on expanding development opportunities, increasing visibility for emerging talent, and creating more ways for employees to grow their skills and careers. We appreciate your candor. Feedback like this helps highlight where we need to stay focused and do better.

Pros

There are talented people here, and some teams genuinely try to do good work. The mission sounds compelling on paper.

Cons

Where to start. The DEI program became so overzealous that it stopped being about inclusion and started being about optics and box-checking. Decisions — including hiring, promotions, and project assignments — visibly prioritized optics over merit and competence. Morale among high performers eroded fast. Layoffs were handled poorly and repeatedly. Leadership would announce "we're in a great position" and then cut 10-15% of staff months later. This cycle happened more than once. No accountability, no transparency, just a new all-hands with fresh talking points. Turnover was relentless. Good people left constantly, and leadership either didn't notice or didn't care. Institutional knowledge walked out the door while management patted itself on the back. The infighting between business units was exhausting. Competing priorities, duplicated efforts, and zero alignment from the top. Cross-functional work felt like trench warfare.

We’re disappointed to hear that your experience at USP led to these conclusions, especially given your long tenure with the organization. We want to address a few points directly. First, assertions of repeated large-scale layoffs are not accurate. While USP has periodically made focused organizational adjustments, we have not conducted ongoing or cyclical reductions at the scale described. When role changes do occur, they are tied to business priorities and communicated with care, not as a contradiction to our overall organizational health. With respect to DEI, USP is proud of a merit-based culture that values expertise, performance, and integrity. Our inclusion efforts are intended to ensure that all qualified individuals, regardless of background or perspective, have equitable access to opportunities and are treated with respect. Hiring, advancement, and project assignments are based on role requirements, skills, and experience, not “optics.” Encouraging diverse viewpoints strengthens scientific rigor and decision-making and is not at odds with high performance. We regret that this was not your experience and appreciate your sharing your perspective. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
