We’re disappointed to hear that your experience at USP led to these conclusions, especially given your long tenure with the organization. We want to address a few points directly. First, assertions of repeated large-scale layoffs are not accurate. While USP has periodically made focused organizational adjustments, we have not conducted ongoing or cyclical reductions at the scale described. When role changes do occur, they are tied to business priorities and communicated with care, not as a contradiction to our overall organizational health. With respect to DEI, USP is proud of a merit-based culture that values expertise, performance, and integrity. Our inclusion efforts are intended to ensure that all qualified individuals, regardless of background or perspective, have equitable access to opportunities and are treated with respect. Hiring, advancement, and project assignments are based on role requirements, skills, and experience, not “optics.” Encouraging diverse viewpoints strengthens scientific rigor and decision-making and is not at odds with high performance.
