Pros
Great benefits & great employees. Lots of Vacation time after a few years you'll be thankful for after dealing with so much. Off on weekends. Have entire day before my shift (twilight) to get things done like school, appointments, grocery shopping, car maintenance, interviews, etc.
Cons
Horrible management & way too much stress for a part time supervisor position. I've been in a department with management where rules change day to day. If something goes wrong, the full time specialist in my dept will find a way to place blame on the 2 part time sups that are left. Mostly me since the other PT sup and the specialist are best buds. No opportunity to offer ideas or insight & if you do, the specialist will use it against you in a future email if things go wrong. Which discourages any new ideas. Also I've mentioned that I'd like to move up within the company (& away from my current dept) since I've graduated from college but no luck. I've been told to wait a few more YEARS and MAYBE a full time position will open up. I've been part time for years, worked my way to the current position I'm in but it seems that I either need to know someone in a higher position to pull me up or wait. So if you are willing to wait 10-15 years to go full time, go ahead & apply for UPS. The company claims they want people with degrees & encourage everyone to go to college but then when that time comes, they tell you to wait in line just like every one else.
