Pros

Good benefits. You get paid once a week. Most coworkers and managers are good people-empathic, and supportive, as it is understood that learning will be mostly done on the job. Expect to do some floundering if you really want to know the systems (although the reference documents have improved significantly since I started) or get by with great customer service and deflect inquiries to make your metrics more favorable. Since the company is always pinching pennies, VTO (voluntary time outs) are available during slow seasons or slow days. Remote work is nice and convenient but is a double edged sword as it may trigger any solipsistic tendencies.

Cons

The company prioritizes its fiduciary responsibility to shareholders: low pay, continued domestic lay-offs, etc. Little room for advancement unless you have been working there for a while or plan to work there for the rest of your life or have psychopathic tendencies. Training is very limited; no simulation tools exist to better know the systems. Support staff like team leads and QA are spread too thinly making interactions sometimes seem performative (that's corporate IT I guess). Evaluations are metric based (as expected) and while most management are aware of the uncanny valley between quality and quantity, For instance, one manager I encountered projected their insecurities onto their team, resorting to name-calling and bullying behavior. Ironically, this individual went on to be promoted higher up the chain—a role that seems to align with their authoritarian approach rather than genuine leadership qualities. If you're gonna work here, know how to play the game I guess.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
