Pros

If you drink the koolaid you think you're actually helping people. If you're blind you think the job has to do with your effort so you try as hard as you can to do well. The vacation amount was pretty great but if you went on vacation it hurt your performance so you work like a dog instead.

Cons

Unfortunately the real job is dependent on your assigned students performance. You can kill yourself at this job caring too much and working as hard as you have ever worked in your life but the sad reality is if you lose too many students (this is out of your control) you're done. Management is absolutely corrupt. They put on a great front that they care about their workers and job but the only thing they care about it making their numbers regardless of if it's unethical or not. UMA is a fantastical facade filled with money hungry puppets and horrible heartless management who only want to secure their pockets and not care about the lives of the the actual students which is sad.

Pros

Overtime available, when need it

Cons

The work environment was highly scripted, making it difficult to build genuine rapport with prospective students. Employees were expected to follow approved scripts very closely, and even small deviations could be treated as compliance issues. At the same time, compliance expectations were not always clearly communicated, which created unnecessary stress. Management felt overly focused on micromanagement, contributing to a high-pressure work environment. During my time there, I also heard a prospective student comment on what they perceived as a lack of diversity within the organization, which stood out to me. Overall, I found the culture stressful and inflexible. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this employer to those looking for a supportive workplace with clear expectations and the flexibility to communicate authentically.
