Pros

You will enjoy a set schedule, competitive pay with regular increases for tenure & performance. The company has many moving parts. This allows opportunities for lateral or upward motion within the company often. The vibe is upbeat and passionate. This is an employer who cares about the community, its students AND its employees. I have rarely seen a company invest so much in training to ensure you will be successful. I have NEVER seen another employer invest as much in recognition. They truly support and build up their employees. If you apply yourself and enjoy being challenged for a greater purpose you can find a team of people to join in with. We make goals, we meet them and we have fun doing it. UMA is a quickly maturing Non-profit company that has its values in order. They are a leader in the Tampa Bay area and abroad. If you want to be part of something bigger than yourself and you want to go home at night knowing that there was value in the work you did today I encourage you to apply.

Cons

Performance based reviews that at times do not accurately reflect on the employee.

Thanks for all you do in living out our mission - equipping and empowering students to succeed in healthcare careers. As a nonprofit education institution, we need dedicated staff like you to continue contributing to our culture of giving, our mission and our values each day. Without that dedication, our students would not overcome challenges and find success. As a valued member of our team, you make UMA a fantastic school. Keep up the awesome work!

Pros

Overtime available, when need it

Cons

The work environment was highly scripted, making it difficult to build genuine rapport with prospective students. Employees were expected to follow approved scripts very closely, and even small deviations could be treated as compliance issues. At the same time, compliance expectations were not always clearly communicated, which created unnecessary stress. Management felt overly focused on micromanagement, contributing to a high-pressure work environment. During my time there, I also heard a prospective student comment on what they perceived as a lack of diversity within the organization, which stood out to me. Overall, I found the culture stressful and inflexible. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this employer to those looking for a supportive workplace with clear expectations and the flexibility to communicate authentically.
