Pros

You get the opportunity to help people change their lives by helping them finding jobs in the medical field. Decent starting salary.

Cons

Hire to fire. No longer concerned about developing new people. Just want to squeeze what they can before letting people go. A non for profit organization that pays people for placing grads.

Dear Former Employee, Thank you for your work in Career Services in support of our value to Champion Student Outcomes. We appreciate all you did to help our students change their lives by finding jobs in the healthcare. Our institutional culture is guided by our core values, which also include a Commitment to Employee Success. We strive to create an environment that attracts and retains the best talent while offering continuous learning, professional development and career growth opportunities. We set high expectations and we support those you work hard to meet them to help them succeed. We work hard to live up to these values every day. With that said, we were disappointed to read that your experience at UMA was dissatisfying. As an institution committed to continuous improvement, we recognize that feedback from our students, employees, and former employees is critical for our ongoing development. Thank you for your comments and best wishes in your future endeavors.

Pros

Overtime available, when need it

Cons

The work environment was highly scripted, making it difficult to build genuine rapport with prospective students. Employees were expected to follow approved scripts very closely, and even small deviations could be treated as compliance issues. At the same time, compliance expectations were not always clearly communicated, which created unnecessary stress. Management felt overly focused on micromanagement, contributing to a high-pressure work environment. During my time there, I also heard a prospective student comment on what they perceived as a lack of diversity within the organization, which stood out to me. Overall, I found the culture stressful and inflexible. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this employer to those looking for a supportive workplace with clear expectations and the flexibility to communicate authentically.
