We always welcome feedback from our instructors who play a vital role in our organization and ultimately the success of our students. We expect instructors to provide feedback in real-time while they are employed, so that we can make effective changes more progressively. We’re concerned to hear you felt there is no training, though. When an individual is hired, they report to our corporate facility (a few miles from the campus) for initial training and development where we cover all the usual and customary elements of orienting new staff members to the team at UMA. After completion of the first part of the orientation, new faculty members report back to the campus where they work closely with the program director and/or lead instructor to cover areas including: Administrative Procedures, Testing and Grading, Attendance, Classroom Procedures, Who’s Who, Teaching Techniques, Tour of Facilities, and so on.
Syllabi and curriculum are clearly set out in the course objectives to which each instructor has access.
Of course (pardon the pun), things can happen very quickly if we lose a faculty member in the middle of a session and need to bring aboard a new member quickly. But we only hire faculty we believe are capable of succeeding in our dynamic environment, and then provide support to ensure success.
We’re sorry that this training and preparation did not meet your expectations and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
