Pros

VERY diverse, great culture overall with lots of opportunities to connect with others in the organization even within the virtual space, good benefits, able to develop new skills while helping new employees develop theirs, company is growing so opportunities to grow within the company are growing as well - UMA promotes from within very often.

Cons

VERY long hours and little to no down time between one new employee training class ending and the next one beginning. Little to no time to participate in the UMA events, speakers. or extracurricular activities that the company hosts for employees due to the back-to-back training classes. It can also be a lot of last-minute updates/changes from stakeholders that make it necessary to change, update, remove, and/or add training materials at the last minute while in the middle of a new employee class.

Pros

Overtime available, when need it

Cons

The work environment was highly scripted, making it difficult to build genuine rapport with prospective students. Employees were expected to follow approved scripts very closely, and even small deviations could be treated as compliance issues. At the same time, compliance expectations were not always clearly communicated, which created unnecessary stress. Management felt overly focused on micromanagement, contributing to a high-pressure work environment. During my time there, I also heard a prospective student comment on what they perceived as a lack of diversity within the organization, which stood out to me. Overall, I found the culture stressful and inflexible. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this employer to those looking for a supportive workplace with clear expectations and the flexibility to communicate authentically.
