Pros

30% discount on top of already affordable clothing interesting and sometimes nice co-workers paid and useful in other jobs training Good starting wage for a retail company. Most retailers pay way less.

Cons

This job is not for shy/introverted people. Everything is based on favoritism therefore only the suck-ups will make it far promotion wise. Upper management, management and supervisors have absolutely no respect for their employees unless you are a suck up. They also have no respect for students. They know that words part time usually attract students yet they are not willing to cooperate with you. These superiors do not want to see you get far in life or have goals. They are stuck in their positions so they want to see you get stuck in yours. Those same superiors are allowed to stand around and chat with the employees they favor and then make rude/sarcastic comments to ones who are doing their work. They will also question why you're doing a specific task if they didn't assign it to you even if another supervisor did. They automatically assume you're doing whatever you want because you're not one of the favorites and they don't like you. Management in general gossips about there employees because like I said, they have 0 respect for you. That's probably the only time they acknowledge you because majority of the time they don't even know who works there unless you're one of the favorites. You are disposable and easily replacable because the superiors have no sort of connection with their employees unless you are a favorite. H.R. is a joke. They don't care about you either. Upper management doesn't know or care who you are so you'll be called "you" instead of your name. Overall, only the kiss-ups will survive. Everyone else will be replaced eventually. This company has no ethics. They don't care about people. Most retailers have no ethical values but this one tops them all. When you sign that contract saying you acknowledge that this is an "at will" company, you're also signing saying your willingly going to accept being treated like scum.

Pros

You learn a lot of the business; scheduling and payroll, labor management, how to create a daily workflow to accomplish business objectives. You're provided with detailed insights into a store's operations- it's P&L statement, total inventory and how convert key data into actionable plans. Simply put, you are challenged and will learn a lot.

Cons

Company and store experience varies greatly by store location. Unfortunately, management favoritism results in certain individuals getting better treatment and greater access to professional opportunities. Additionally, Company HR is very tepid when addressing store issues pertaining to behaviors exhibited by store management towards associates. Scheduling can be very inflexible and unaccommodating.
