Cons

RULES RULES RULES ! Too many rules and regulations made to take away employees sense of individuality and self expression, its a total dehumanizing experience working at Uniqlo. All the rules in the hand book make you feel like you are 11 years old at Catholic school. Girls can't wear their hair down, colorful make up or nail polish, no facial piercing, no tattoos, no t shirts, no bracelets, no hair color, no shorts. Guys must wear collar shirt like polos are button down and alway layer with a jacket. The list goes on and on, basically too many rules for too little pay. Uniqlo treat employee like second class human under customer and managers. At the Soho store the restrooms were out of service for about a month a few time and employee were forced to go outside the find restrooms elsewhere, while only the managers were allowed to use the bathroom upstair in the leadership office. The last two summers there was no A/C in the store, customers were fainting and employees pasting out during the worst heatwave in the city. Everyone was sweaty and disgusting but expected to smile and please customers while wearing a jacket in a 100 degree store. The A/C was blowing hot air in the store all summer for 2 years and they didn't fix it. In conclusion Uniqlo treat employees like worse than dogs for so little pay but expect you to smile and greet customer. P.S Favoritism plays a major role in promotions at Uniqlo so start kissing up the second your hired. The hours are non existent I have seen people with open availability schedule for 0 hours and part-timers forced to work 40+ hours during holiday season only to be reduced to 2 days a week after. Save yourself the misery and go to Urban Outfitter or Top Shop, anywhere is better than Uniqlo !

Pros

You learn a lot of the business; scheduling and payroll, labor management, how to create a daily workflow to accomplish business objectives. You're provided with detailed insights into a store's operations- it's P&L statement, total inventory and how convert key data into actionable plans. Simply put, you are challenged and will learn a lot.

Cons

Company and store experience varies greatly by store location. Unfortunately, management favoritism results in certain individuals getting better treatment and greater access to professional opportunities. Additionally, Company HR is very tepid when addressing store issues pertaining to behaviors exhibited by store management towards associates. Scheduling can be very inflexible and unaccommodating.
