Pros

After working at Uniqlo for the past 2 years. I can not think of any Pros to working at the company other than the 30% employee discount. Work can go by fairly fast if you work people you enjoy working with.

Cons

The store that I worked for played favorites majority of the time. If you are not well liked by upper management, you would not be trained to learn new things i.e. A-ranking(making sure the shirts and pants were folded neatly and making sure all the size stickers were lined up properly), raising store standards, and etc. You needed to know these things in order to be promoted and receive a raise of usually 50 cents every 3 months. If you are not well-liked by management, you would be stuck doing either fitting room or in the back pushing out items onto the sales floor every single day you would work. It is really hard to be promoted, it doesn't matter how hard you work, it is really about if you are well liked. You could break your back for the company and they won't even acknowledge your hard work. If you are looking to start a long-term career in the retail industry, I would not recommend you to work at this job. You will be here for the next 10 years breaking your back. I also feel like the work being done does not equal the pay. As you are constantly on your feet and dealing with customers 24/7 until the store closes. We would do tasks that are not even in the job description such as cleaning the bathroom and taking out the trash at night. As Uniqlo has a traditional workplace mindset, they would often have the men do all the grunt work and heavy lifting. Those that love Uniqlo as a clothing store, please do not bother working here because you will lose the magic you once had for the store. You will just hate even being there either when you are off or at work. Save yourself the pain and don't work at this min wage retail job. There is 0 growth opportunity if you aren't the favorites

Pros

You learn a lot of the business; scheduling and payroll, labor management, how to create a daily workflow to accomplish business objectives. You're provided with detailed insights into a store's operations- it's P&L statement, total inventory and how convert key data into actionable plans. Simply put, you are challenged and will learn a lot.

Cons

Company and store experience varies greatly by store location. Unfortunately, management favoritism results in certain individuals getting better treatment and greater access to professional opportunities. Additionally, Company HR is very tepid when addressing store issues pertaining to behaviors exhibited by store management towards associates. Scheduling can be very inflexible and unaccommodating.
