Pros
When I started at United Rentals, I just needed a job. I found a career and a family. I started as an Inside Sales Rep and worked my way into being a Branch Manager in less than 5 years, because hard work is truly noticed and rewarded. The standard benefits are great, but there is an additional benefit, in the Compassion Fund. This is a completely employee funded and ran assistance program created to assist our employees who are in need. For instance, I myself received money from the compassion fund after my husband suffered a medical emergency. He was out of work for a bit and we had a ton of medical bills. All of those stressors were taken away by the Compassion Fund. This happened in 2020 during COVID and I was not able to be at the hospital with him. Someone from my team came by to visit me or take me to dinner every night to ensure I was taking care of myself. The priority of life/work balance is really key at United. I have never worked for a company that was so understanding and had a desire to ensure we are happy at work as well as at home.
Cons
This is a very high stress job.
