Pros

Typical benefits of bay area tech company. Not a whole lot really. Interesting work will only get you so far.

Cons

Let's see, where should I start. Work life balance? Nope. I don't know how others get their WLB from. They're probably not in engineering. I know for a fact that it's a big FAT lie. Don't be surprised if you get messaged late at night for trivial things like: "Hey, how come your bug fix A isn't working in staging?" I had a very negative compensation review experience with my manager. We had an agreed upon increase but my actual increase was way lower than promised. Very disappointing. I also know a couple recent hires who were promised managerial positions got positioned as individual contributors as a result of team re-shuffling. Apparently, after talking to my colleagues, this bait-and-switch strategy is not uncommon. Measly stock options and compensation. You are expected to work hard until late night and on weekends, but don't expect that you are going to be rewarded for it. Overall, I wish I had not joined this organization.

It sucks you’re having a bad experience at Unity so far. We’d like to fix that. People absolutely need work/life balance, and while there are times in all organizations where we have to work extra hard to meet deadlines or support a customer in need, it should be the exception not the rule. It would be great if you could bring this up with your manager, or reach out to me (Brett), so we can get this addressed.

Pros

Strong visibility across multiple internal business units (Sales, TAM, Product, Finance). Excellent place to sharpen your skills as a cross-functional "translator" because the data demands are constant and highly visible.

Cons

The organization suffers from significant corporate governance issues. There is a palpable operational bias and favoritism toward specific global offices (specifically Israel / Middle East leadership pipelines), resulting in a massive imbalance in how decisions are made, resources are allocated, and credit is given. Furthermore, psychological safety is practically non-existent in certain divisions; toxic management behavior, including professional bullying and systemic harassment, goes completely unchecked by HR, creating an incredibly stressful and exclusionary workplace.
