Pros

The typical bay area perks: lunch, snacks, beer & wine. Fun events organized by WE team. Pretty generous PTO, float and sick days. 401k and matching. No dinner though. 4 stars! There is endless list of projects to work on. If you love work and are not afraid to take on technical projects. Unity does not disappoint in this department. Plenty of learning experience can be acquired here. 4 Stars.

Cons

- Compensation: Base salary is alright but stock option package is peanuts compared to other late stage startups (Uber, Lyft, etc). We're talking about 3K ish for non-senior and 10K ish for seniors. That is roughly $20K and $70K over 4 years respectively. No target bonus. No transparency around level & compensation band. One star. Or perhaps zero. - Career Opportunities: Terrible. No clear path to promotion. Performance review process is terrible terrible terrible. Managers aren't trained well enough to give meaningful feedback. ZERO here. - Work Life Balance: I've been asked to review codes on weekends and holidays. Don't be surprised if your manager asks you to "go the extra mile" (hint hint). One star. - Manager: Been with three different managers. All seem to lack basic project management skills. Some don't have the technical prowess to lead projects to completion. Some don't know what the product does. Shudder. One star. - Senior management: No comment. Three stars. - Culture & Values: Too much drama and politics but I do enjoy working with my pod-mates though. They cool. Tres stars here. Final result is 2 stars.

This is John R, CEO Unity. Thanks for writing the review. Good to have feedback. A few quick thoughts: 1) A few people from Unity suggested i look at GD to read the reviews. 2) I see you and a few others are having a bad experience, especially as it relates to work / life balance. 3) I've done small round table meetings (5 to 12 in each meeting) with in total > 250 people in SF and Bellevue in the last 4 months. I have also done many 1:1 office meetings with front line engineers and product team members. Most report / share an experience that is largely positive to very positive. 4) When i do hear of problems, we try to fix them as quickly as possible. 5) WRT to career opportunities, the data i have shows a huge number of internal promotions, in engineering, in sales, in the monetization team, etc. My suggestion -- if you do have concerns or feel you are not enjoying your job, or feel the work / life balance is off, Slack me directly or email me directly. We'll set time to have a confidential discussion (no, i won't tell anyone), and we can work to solve the problem. John

Pros

Strong visibility across multiple internal business units (Sales, TAM, Product, Finance). Excellent place to sharpen your skills as a cross-functional "translator" because the data demands are constant and highly visible.

Cons

The organization suffers from significant corporate governance issues. There is a palpable operational bias and favoritism toward specific global offices (specifically Israel / Middle East leadership pipelines), resulting in a massive imbalance in how decisions are made, resources are allocated, and credit is given. Furthermore, psychological safety is practically non-existent in certain divisions; toxic management behavior, including professional bullying and systemic harassment, goes completely unchecked by HR, creating an incredibly stressful and exclusionary workplace.
