Pros
1. Data Scientists - Hands down some of the best talent I have seen. Only if their managers listened to them. 2. Some folks in engineering and customer success are also great. Learned a lot from them. 3. Good pay, benefits, great working space. 4. We used to have endless snacks and toast day till it got cancelled.
Cons
1. People without relevant experience got hired to top positions in Data Science, Sales, Product Development and Customer Success. Leaders and managers completely failed to inspire the team. 2. Managers across departments were not aggressive enough to close deals with customers. 3. From 2015 to 2018, we did Adhoc work in the hopes of signing a big name. Had poor success doing it because we were not fully committed to closing deals. 4. When we started to run out of money in 2019, we suddenly became a product company and tried desperately to sell what we can. But no major or even minor successes because we never put in the effort to cultivate a relationship with a customer by delivering on our commitment. So why should anyone buy our product? 5. Then, all of a sudden in 2020, the product was suddenly declared as done and key engineering and product team members moved to another company Keywell invested in. 6. Layoffs have long preceded Covid and have been happening since Jan 2018. Total company strength reduced to 30% by the time I left. 7. This company has a poor habit of celebrating too much. I guess no one is celebrating anything now. There was zero job security in 2020. Layoffs could happen at any time. 8. Adjectives I would use to describe executive and managerial leadership in this company- Mediocre and Gutless.
