Pros

Benefits if you're state: lots of paid leave, educational reimbursement, and good insurance

Cons

What department you're in really makes a difference. The hospital-side of things in general is a bit of a mess and can be toxic hierarchical work environment depending on leadership. Pay is below average, but if you're lucky enough to be a state employee, benefits are great and make up some of the difference. You have to move around a lot to get a pay increase if you're not on the hospital side of HR
