The entire Network Test Market is contracting - this includes Viavi (JDSU), Spirent, and Ixia. Since generic hardware is fast enough, customers want pure software solutions. Unfortunately, custom hardware is how these companies made their money. Although there is some software to be written right now, these companies will have to merge and downsize to survive. The upper management is especially bad because they are cash rich but have no direction other than to keep contracting.
