Pros

Flexiblity. Do your job and no one is on your back. Management so busy worrying about other things and you are pretty much left alone as long as you do your job.

Cons

Very boring and slow sometimes Their computer program for care plans suck. Does not take other disciplines into account as far as documenting (as a non nurse, why am I rating bowel movements and skin tears?) Too much wear and tear on your car. Patients too far from each other. No consideration given for staff going into high crime areas. You are pretty much on your own because they are too cheap to pay for outside security. Staff warned not to mention to other staff members if they experience problems related to personal safety. Having to do on call sucks. They dont give company issued cell phones and you are made to use your own cell (this saves them money in the end) Absoulety no opportunity for advancement. No training, staff development, in-services or education. I really dont see how they are going to remain afloat-they cant seem to get their numbers up. They just cannot seem to get anything right. And once you tire of the aforementioned, you get treated like a leper by management when you announce your resignation...

Pros

A very independent role, great Work-Life balance, a great way to learn the “why” behind policies, procedures, etc.

Cons

100% online training only. Lack of in-house support for specific role.

Pros

Being able to build relationships with my patients and relieve the patients and family members of the difficulties with going through end of life care.

Cons

Poor pay management between new and current staff. Unwanted overtime. Not getting reimbursed for time spent on the road before and after shifts. It is possible to be gone from your house for 12 hours and only be payed for your 8 hour shift. Milegage starts after your first visit and ends at your last visit. You will not be payed for the start of your day or for the end of the day. You only get two holidays off and you are required to pay your holiday out of what little PTO you earn. There is no encouragement to stay long term. Seniority does not benefit you in any way. Little to no useful training. You will not be trained on how to use the equipment your patients may need. There is a ridiculous amount of management for what little field staff there is. They will say that you will cover a specific territory, then be expected to cover outside of that territory. You will not have a set end time of your day. Your end of shift relief may take up to 1 hour to be able to get to you. You are often unable to commitments on shift days. Company will often make promises that are not able to be met by field staff.
