Pros
Helping patients and families get thru these tough times were the best part of my job. I loved what I did because it was patient based. The amount of PTO given was also nice because I didn't have to be there for years in order to use it.
Cons
Management only cares about themselves and the all mighty dollar. For example, if a family wanted an air mattress, didn't qualify, and threaten to leave Vitas...they got what they wanted. Management also does not live up to "We take care of each other". They give no care about the employees, a work/life balance, or situations that may occur in an employees life. No one takes ownership of their work or mistakes but are quick to write up others for the smallest things that have nothing to do with the quality or quantity of their work. Also, you must use your PTO for Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving Day. Management sits on the phones and computers all day without doing work but if others are not busy at all times, there is a problem. And if you aren't blonde, tall, skinny, and wear short skirts....or put on a huge smile and laugh at anything management says....you won't get anywhere within Vitas. Do not have a voice and learn to tell on everyone and you are good to be promoted at any given time and not just according to the 6 month policy.
