Vanderweil is a solid company in the MEP business. It was started in the 1950s. The children of the founder have carried on the business in a professional manner. The grandchildren who also are being groomed to run the business worked elsewhere first. For a while, the company was restructured to have non family control the operations. When the business economy lagged, the owners to back the reins to keep the business on course and tighten the belt. Employees are treated fairly and with respect. Vanderweil tries to keep diversity in a number of industries including health, academics, power, laboratories, casinos, hotels throughout the world. They provide get togethers for their employees in the summer and Christmas holidays and occasional Beers for Peers. Working at Vanderweil was a good experience.
Cons
The salaries are kept in check and are on par with the industry. If you are there a long time the salary does not keep up compared to switching companies.The MEP industry is known for its revolving door as projects begin and end and the real estate industry cycles. Vanderweil is frugal but attempts to be in the middle of the range for benefits, salaries and taking care of its personnel.
