Pros
After I graduated from college, I did as most fresh grads do and started to interview around trying to figure out where I could jump start my career. I heard the same things from every company I spoke to. "Our SDR program sets you up for success, there is ton of opportunity internally, it pays very well, and the culture is fantastic." However when I would ask my friends that worked at those companies, I heard "our SDR program is long, I'm unmotivated, nothing matters outside of my numbers, and you just have to do your time for 18 months to even be considered for an AE role." That is, every company outside of Verkada. I truly believed everyone at Verkada who promised me it was the best place to jump start my career, and after 12 months here at Verkada I can now attest to it. I was promoted to an Account Executive role after 2 quarters as an SDR. Every leader I have worked under here has taken a genuine interest in not only my initial success, but my career growth, my ambitions, and my overall well-being. Despite my own personal growth, it has also been a pleasure seeing how a company grows at a rapid pace from both a business and cultural perspective. There have been articles posted that paint Verkada in a bad light, and by no means am I justifying some of the incidents internally. However, I do think it's important to note that bad apples should not speak for the company as a whole, and definitely not for the majority of the individuals I work alongside, who are role models for me as professionals, leaders, and friends. There are far too many diverse, talented, selfless, and personable individuals at this company to put an umbrella of negative notions over Verkada and its employees. But of course, incidents that happen in start-ups attract more interest than all of the positive initiatives that Dervilla Lannon, our VP of People, and all of leadership have created to make Verkada an inclusive, well-rounded, enjoyable workplace. I would recommend working at Verkada to anyone who is looking for rapid career growth, an incredible/easy to sell product, and a team who you can learn from and who make coming in to work daily a true pleasure.
Cons
It's a lot of work, but it's worth it for the compensation and career growth.
