- Growth industry: lots of business right now for the energy sector that will continue to increase as demands for energy significantly rise, due to new driving forces in the economy such as AI - Some friendly faces around the office who can be trusted & are happy to help people who are struggling - Renewed focus on the company's continuous improvement program allows for suggestions & inefficiencies in engineering workflows to be taken seriously & addressed--but only if these are communicated with the right words to the right people

- Not a family friendly environment--bad language, harsh attitudes, short tempers, and impatience from others leads to intimidation rather than healthy teamwork - High pressure environment can have a crippling effect on work/life balance, especially as more projects are added to one's workload - "Corporate ladder" climbing is implicitly expected--can be a pro or con depending on how you view this - Pervasive belief that time spent = knowledge and experience gained by osmosis, without continued intentional training efforts from others. Many unspoken things you have to unfairly "just know" - Time spent on training and asking for help from your peers are both frowned upon, despite well-meaning corporate directives to actually do so, leading to serious knowledge gaps that will come back to haunt you when you least expect it - Judgmental & unforgiving atmosphere--much energy must be exerted looking good outwardly. Adopting managerial "corporate speak" amidst your engineering skillset is vital to long-term survival here
