Pros
Benefits and vacation time was good, and coworkers were professional and good to work with.
Cons
"Work- Life balance" is talked about a lot at Gore, but it really has became a secondary concern there. Because Gore is a global company, most work days regularly extended well past any traditional 8-hour day. It was partly due to Gore being a global company, but regardless, work days routinely started with calls at 6:00 a.m. depending on your time zone and extended until late in the evening. Senior leaders would regularly reward associates with UCPs - unplanned cash payments - for the long hours they would put in, but these along with annual bonuses (for those who were eligible for them), while appreciated, also worked as golden handcuffs. In addition, due to Gore's reorganization in late 2023, hundreds of employees (many who had valuable experience and had been with Gore for years) took packages / left Gore in early 2024 because no suitable position remained in the reorganized company. The impact on employees who remained was longer hours in order to pick up the slack, as well as a brain drain. In the end, there are a lot of good people at Gore who continue to work under challenging conditions.
